Pumpkin Patch in Portland, Oregon 2006

This is the Pumpkin Patch on Sauvie Island in Portland, Oregon. The island is beautiful and this festival is really fun. There's a corn maze, farm animals, a market, season-appropriate food (caramel apples, sausages, corn-on-the-cob, etc), and acres of pumpkins on the vine. There is a hay ride that takes people out to the fields where they pick their own pumpkins.

Family at Pumpkin Patch

This is my family at the Pumpkin Patch. My nephew Graham is in front, then my sister Sydney, to her left is her husband Kyle, and just behind my sister and to the right is my dad Charles.

Graham found a pumpkin he liked, and worked really hard trying to pick it up...
...but finally gave up.

Ah, here's one that's just the right size for him!

Oktoberfest 2006

Oktoberfest in Utah is held at Snowbird, which is a beautiful resort in "Little Cottonwood Canyon," about 45 minutes from where I live. In the winter, it's a ski resort. In the summer, there's hiking, bicycling, and festivals.

Oktoberfest has German food, beer, music, dancing, and shopping. This woman with the accordian was rocking out! You can tell, by all the people dancing. They even did the Chicken Dance!

Little Cottonwood Canyon

There are several beautiful canyons around where I live. This one is Little Cottonwood Canyon. Others are Big Cottonwood, Millcreek, City Creek, Emigration, Parleys, and Lambs. They are great for hiking and seeing occasional wildlife.

Autumn colors

In Autumn, when the leaves change colors, these canyons are particularly beautiful. In the distance in some of these photos, you can see the Salt Lake Valley. I live very near here.
